Scrap Event - Coming Soon! Drop-Off For Residents and Pick-Up for Seniors
September 3, 2024Russell Township SENIORS age 60 and older may call 440-279-2130 ASAP to register for home pick-up of scrap items by Russell Township. Up to 10 scrap items (see detailed list of permitted & prohibited items) may be placed outside the home or garage for pickup. This special service is for residents age 60+ only. Registration with the Geauga County Dept. on Aging is required.
ALL Russell Township residents may participate in the Scrap Drop-off Event on Saturday, Sept 14th at the Road Garage. Bring your driver's license/proof of residency.
What Russell will take: Metal items, appliances, grills without fuel tanks, furniture, carpet cut & bundled, toys, lamps, clothing, televisions, and electronic equipment will be accepted. Construction wood, drywall, pipe or other large items must be reduced to 6’ or less lengths. All smaller materials should be consolidated in strong boxes and items should be kept dry (tarped).Please 10 household items per home. Please note the following guidelines: To prevent possible bed bug transferal (or other pest), all mattresses, couches and upholstered furniture MUST be wrapped in plastic and taped securely or they will not be taken. Windows, glass, & mirrors must be duct taped.
What Russell won’t take: Liquids, paints, antifreeze, motor oil, appliances with Freon, hazardous materials, batteries, propane or gas tanks, plastic-coated wire, construction/remodeling debris, ashes, rocks, yard waste, tree trunks, tires, medical waste, food waste, or household garbage. Residents are reminded that newspapers, magazines and cardboard are recyclable. Separate them out for recycling at a later date. Residents are also asked not to bring items that can easily be disposed of in the resident’s weekly curbside pickup. No tires will be picked up as Russell has an annual tire drop-off event.
