Karen Walder earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in 1984 and spent 28 years working in the manufacturing technology field, specializing in manufacturing control (SCADA) software.  Karen and her husband were partners in several technology companies, and currently co-manage their collector car restoration and property management businesses.  In 2018 Karen was appointed to the Fiscal Officer position and was subsequently elected to a four year term.  Karen holds a Certified Public Funds Investment Manager certification and averages over 25 hours per year in continuing education for the fiscal office position.

Karen has lived in Russell Township since 1988 after growing up next door in Newbury township.  She is a graduate of Notre Dame Academy.  Besides collector cars and automobilia, Karen’s interests include American history, music and bicycling.

Karen believes that local government should be transparent, accessible and accountable to the taxpayers and works diligently to properly execute the many and varied duties required of the Fiscal Officer.
